Football strategyFor more than 19 years, HEI has fostered the importance of rigorous business planning as a key strategy for long-term corporate success and profitability. A meaningful long-term plan provides organizations with management signposts appearing over time, demonstrating for example, that a new product is needed in three years, that your company no longer needs five offices in New Zealand, or that costs need to be reduced by 20% before next winter.

As part of HEI's strategic management consulting, we facilitate long-term planning, to reduce unwelcome surprises for management, alerting the client's team to both benefits and problems before they occur. Such timely knowledge provides an opportunity to change company operations proactively, rather than after the fact. The stakeholders will be pleasantly pleased.

We believe that a strategic planning horizon of three to five years into the future is prudent for most companies. For others with significant mid- to long-term expense or capital items, an HEI-facilitated long-term strategic plan allows the client's management team to be ready for orderly retrofits without beggaring the company.

A strategic plan will also suggest a needed reserve fund, as a cushion against unforeseen events including marketplace changes, environmental issues, or acts of God. A long-term strategic plan is a client company's periodic health checkup — an organization's major systems are monitored, and often an opportunity to take corrective action presents itself before the problem becomes critical.

A long-range comprehensive strategic plan also monitors aspects outside the company that can affect the bottom line — things like the cost of energy, salary trends, the cost of capital or the future cost of raw materials. We can help you put it all together.
